Race bib sizing & printing guide

The standard adult running bib is roughly 8×6 inches (203×152 mm) — big enough for a number that's readable in race photos and by timing spotters, small enough not to flap. Youth and fun-run bibs are commonly about half that height. This tool produces both, at exact size, with the number always printed in high-contrast near-black for legibility.

  • Paper: for dry indoor events, 200–250 gsm cardstock works fine. For outdoor races, print on waterproof synthetic paper (Tyvek or laser-compatible polyester) so sweat and rain don't destroy the bib.
  • Printing: always print at 100% scale / "Actual size". If your printer dialog says "Fit to page", turn it off — otherwise the bib shrinks and safety-pin holes end up in the wrong place.
  • Cutting: every page includes dashed cut lines just outside the bib border. A guillotine cutter is fastest for large batches.
  • Attaching: safety-pin each corner, or use bib clips/race belts. Leave a small margin outside the border when cutting so pins don't tear through.

Generating a big race? The PDF embeds each sponsor logo only once no matter how many pages you produce, so even a 1,000-bib file stays small and prints fast.

Perfect for every kind of event

🏃 Charity 5Ks & fun runs

Print numbered bibs with your charity's logo and sponsor strip the night before the run — no minimum order, no supplier lead time.

🏫 School sports days

Half-size bibs, two per page, are ideal for kids. Upload the class list and every child gets a bib with their own name on it.

🚴 Triathlons & cycling

Use number prefixes ("T-101", "C-101") to distinguish waves or disciplines while keeping one continuous numbering scheme.

🏢 Corporate races

Brand bibs with the company logo and team-sponsor logos for office 5Ks, step challenges, and charity relay events.

🎗️ Walkathons & fundraisers

Sponsor logos on every participant's chest are a sponsorship perk you can sell — add up to four per bib.

🏟️ Track meets & club events

Regenerate a lost bib in seconds on race morning — just enter the single number and reprint that one page.

For most community events under a few thousand runners, printing your own bibs is dramatically cheaper and faster. Large commercial races with chip timing typically still order integrated bib-tag combos.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this race bib generator really free?

Yes — completely free, no signup, no watermark, no bib limit charges. Generate up to 2,000 bibs per PDF as many times as you like.

Is my runner data uploaded anywhere?

No. Your registrant CSV, runner names, and logos are processed entirely in your browser with JavaScript and never sent to any server. The PDF is built on your own device.

What size are the printable race bibs?

The full-size bib is the standard 8×6 inch (203×152 mm) adult running bib, one per page. The half-size option (~7.7×4.9 in) fits two per page and suits fun runs and kids' races. Both work on A4 and US Letter paper.

Can bib numbers include letters or a prefix?

Yes. In range mode you can add a prefix like "A-" and zero-padding (A-001, A-002…). In CSV mode any alphanumeric value in your bib number column is printed exactly as-is, so "W-15" or "ELITE1" work fine.

Can I put runner names on the bibs?

Yes — upload your registrant CSV, map the name column, and each bib prints that runner's name under their number. Personalized bibs make better race photos and let spectators cheer runners by name.

How many sponsor logos can I add?

Up to four sponsor logos, spaced evenly along the bottom of every bib, plus an optional event logo at the top next to your event name. PNG logos with transparent backgrounds look best.

What paper should I print race bibs on?

For indoor or fair-weather events, 200–250 gsm cardstock is fine. For outdoor races, use waterproof Tyvek or synthetic laser paper — it's tear-resistant and survives sweat and rain.

How do I make sure the bibs print at the correct size?

In your print dialog, choose "Actual size" or set scale to 100%, and pick the same paper size you selected in the tool (A4 or US Letter). Avoid "Fit to page" — it shrinks the bib.
